Are you looking for a farm in a great location with a friendly environment. We need someone who can manage one of our 290 cow farms 20 minutes from Kerikeri and Paihia, Bay of Islands. Split calving (approx. 180 Autumn – 100 Spring) on 110 ha of mostly volcanic flat to rolling land. It is important that you can bring skills acquired over at least 5 dairying seasons. You must be able to run a cowshed and ensure top quality milk is sent to the factory each day. You will be responsible for all aspects of milking. (Set up thru milking to clean up). You must be able to recognise and treat unwell cows, record all treatments, assist with calving cows, identifying and draft cows for mating. Match cows and calves, collect calves from paddock or calving area. Calves are moved off farm from 4 days old. This is a pasture focused farm – so you will be responsible for the grazing round and daily paddock selection (including putting up and taking down electric fences). Ideally, you will have had experience with grazing decisions but we are happy to assist if this is an area you are still learning about – and we have proven round length targets for different times of year which work well on this farm. Supplements (Maize and/or PKE) are fed over Autumn - Spring on a feedpad. Our busy autumn calving will be over by the time you start. The AI for autumn herd will start in late June, so it’s a great time to join our farming business. We enjoy working with positive people, require honesty, people that are keen to learn, good work standards and most importantly are not afraid to communicate when there are questions and are drug free. We have a team of 4-5 across the farming business. If interested please email with some info about yourself or provide a CV. We do verify your experience by talking to your referees - so please include at least 2 referees we can phone.
