Our farm is located on the Mossburn Five Rivers Road, where we milk 1000 cows on a 420ha block through a 60 bale rotary shed, that has ACR’s, auto teat spray and in shed feeding. We have a centre pivot which goes over 200ha of our dairy unit which is our saving grace come summertime.
We are responsible for looking after our own young stock on an attached run off block (250 calves, 250 yearlings). This includes feeding, drenching, weighing etc
We winter our cows on farm on Kale and balage. Cows are calved down on a balage diet
We run a 3 on, 2 off, 7 on, 2 off roster (every fortnight is the same) Tuesday, Wednesday one week and Sunday, Monday the other week is the current Rostered days off for this position. This roster is the same all year round. Salary will be based on experience. With having a large team it means we can accommodate extra days off if you need full weekends off at times.
We run a split milking roster so on your days on you are only required to either get cows in, milk first herd, or milk second herd. Once you have done your allocated task you go for breakfast in the morning or finish up for the day in the afternoon. Balance between work and home life is extremely important to us and our team which is why teamwork is essential so we can all get away from work and enjoy time outside of work.
