The farm is located between Five Rivers and Mossburn, and we will be supplying Fonterra. It has a centrally located 60 bale rotary shed with automatic cup removers, automatic teat spray, in shed feeding and the De Laval version of pro track. This shed was built in 2015 so is in new condition and we milk 1000 cows.
The dairy platform is 430ha with half of this being under centre pivot for summer protection.
We will be wintering on our dairy platform with kale, balage and silage. There is also an attached run off where all young stock will be fed and wintered. When it comes to young stock our responsibility is to weigh and drench these monthly and shift these over the winter period.
As well as the runoff being attached to our dairy platform there is also another 1000 cow dairy unit that backs onto our farm that will be contract milked by another couple.
