The effective milking area is 80 Ha flat land, irrigated by a center pivot and K lines. The dairy shed is a 20 aside herringbone, in good condition and is easily run. The effluent system is a lined pond with pod irrigation. 270 kiwi-cross cows are milked, averaging 100,000 kg MS over the last two seasons. Milking is twice a day up until three weeks prior to mating, then going once a day for the rest of the season. The system is predominantly grass-based, also using baleage, silage, and summer turnips. Run-off blocks provide supplement and heifer grazing. Management of heifers is flexible with owners, based on seasonal workload.
