Homestead Farm is a dairy platform and runoff combined property milking 800 – 830 cows. The shed is a 60-bail rotary with in-shed feeding and protrack. The total area farmed is 400ha, with 247ha effective for milking and 124ha effective on the runoff. The runoff is dry land carrying 200 R2s, 200 R1s and roughly 20 Jersey bulls (for mating) year-round. The platform is irrigated via pivots, with just the corners in k line. The farm is positioned where we capture the best of flat easy-to-farm Canterbury land but have close proximity to the foothills, enabling brilliant mountain views and good rainfall. Being only 11 years old the property has been well planned with central lane systems, tidy paddocks, great sheds/infrastructure and staff housing.
