Due to a recent change in circumstances, we are seeking a contract milker for our dairy farm at Otahu Flat in Western Southland. The property is 285 ha effective, peak milking 685 cows, and producing 285,000 kgMS annually.
40 ASHB dairy shed, with cup removers, and in-shed feeding.
Cows are wintered at a nearby runoff (walking distance for cows), and contract milker is responsible for management of cows over winter.
Supplement usage typically averages 400kg of PK/cow/season, fed through dairy shed.
Twice-a-day milking until February, then 16-hour milking for the rest of the season.
