Personal Statement
I am a rural raised, hard-working, forward thinking individual with a desire to travel and learn from others. I feel I would be a valued staff member as an enthusiastic team player. I am experienced in carrying out tasks to a high standard and go above and beyond in ensuring expectations are met; taking pride in my work.
I have experience in working on sheep, beef and dairy farms in the UK and have over 2 years experience in the NZ dairy industry as a herd manager and 2ic. Over these 2 years I have learnt a lot in a very short space of time due to the shortage of workers across the agriculture sector coming out of Covid. I have moved from dairy assistant up to herd manager and then 2ic progressing onto another farm.
Having a good social life is important to me and this is reflected in my work by forming good relationships with other members of staff, planning social events to keep up staff morale and working on team building. I was previously a member of Buckland Brewer YFC and participated in many competitions and socials as well as attending group meetings where I have made many friends. I have continued this in my time in New Zealand by becoming secretary and then vice chair for Pendarves YFC where I help run monthly meetings, organise events and welcome new members. I feel this friendly nature would benefit a workforce and keep a team motivated during seasonal challenges. My other hobbies include Women’s Rugby for Ashburton Celtic, rowing, swimming and a weekly dinner club with some neighbouring farmers.
Work hard play hard is a way of life for many young farmers and I feel working in New Zealand has given me the perfect opportunity to really embrace this way of life while gaining new knowledge, experiences and travel, making new friends and memories. The two seasons here in NZ have really lived up to that and now I am ready for new challenges going into another season.
