We are looking for a farm assistant to join our team for the rest of the season. we milk 600 cows threw a 40 a side herringbone with ACRS. We have collars on the cows which makes drafting a breeze. It's our first year with collars and is very interesting watching the cow's health and rumination.  knowledge on using apps would be a bonus, as we record every think we do threw them. We run a 6-2 roster, 6-1 over calving. All cows are wintered on farm on 100% bailage. we have a 3-bedroom house available, and a single man's quarters. We are looking for a casual farm worker or full time fixed term farm assistant to assist with daily farm activities on our autumn calving farm located at Opiki, Manawatu (10 minutes from Palmerston North).  We are happy to provide regular hours on a roster through to 31 May. Ideally you will be able to assist with milking ,feeding calves, be able to ride a two wheeler, drive a tractor (basic front end loader) towing trailer for calf collecting etc. This is a drive in position. We are contract milkers milking 630 cows and are looking for a motivated 2IC to join our  team. The farm is located in the Hinds district, 20 minutes from Ashburton. It is 182ha, producing  500+kgms/cow. The farm is irrigated with 2 pivots, 15ha Kline and 5Ha of fixed grid. The  shed is a 54-bale rotary with in-shed feeding, ACRs and protrack with automatic drafting.   The successful applicant will have experience in pasture management, animal health, basic record  keeping and making sure machinery and farm are well- maintained. They will be able to drive a tractor  (including mowing and feeding out) and run the farm in the absence of the contract milker.  Primary  ITO Level 3 is required. We are a small family owned farm located 5 minutes from Hawera township.  We milk 180 cows through a 22 aside herringbone.  We operate mostly on a grass based feed system and have in-shed feeding and automatic cup -removers. We like to always milk with 2 in the shed. Morning milkings (5.30am) take 2.5hours in spring and 2 hours outside of spring. Afternoon milkings( 3pm )take 1.5-2 hours in spring. We are seeking someone to help us milk through the season.  We require  someone to milk Monday -Friday with the weekends off.  We offer an hourly wage which would be  negotiated and include a travel allowance. This would be a drive in position to begin with, with the option/opportunity of renting our house in the future.  We are a very small scale dairy farm and pride ourselves on animal health and protecting and nurturing our environment.
