We are looking for a part time farm assistant to join our team.  We are running 750 cows on a system five, with a mixer wagon, feed pad and barn.  We are split calving and milk twice a day year round.  The cowshed is a 50 bale rotary with ACRs and automatic teatspray. Tractor experience is necessary.  Solo milking and tractor work are a big part of this role along with general farm maintenance and spraying as required. This position guarantees 20 hours work per week, with more hours potentially available during busy times.  A one bedroom, tidy and warm cottage with car port, is available.  No inside dogs and no dogs on the farm as the cows aren't used to them.  If you have cats be aware that there are several domestic and wild cats on this farm. This position will be on a fixed term contract for a year. The rostered on days will be negotiable.

We are seeking a Herd Manager to join our team. Farm milks 630 cow through herringbone shed. We are seeking a motivated, honest and reliable person with a willingness to learn, who will join our team 3 members. The successful applicant will be expected to work in a team and independently. Key roles will be everything from helping out with a small amount of calf rearing when needed, milking, fencing, weed control and other farm tasks depending on the time of the season and level of knowledge. Minimum 30hours and maximum 50 hours/ week. Key requirements • team player, be punctual, willingness to learn and have a good attitude • a willingness to ask questions and to complete jobs to a high standard • must pass drug test and have a clean criminal record • the ability to work well within a team and or individually • no experience required; all the training provided on farm for right person. Due to our current staff member having a change in family circumstances we have a permanent part-time position available. This role is primarily that of a calf rearer over calving with ongoing work available after calving as a milk harvester or farm assistant. The calf rearing aspect of this position will involve full responsibility of 220 replacement heifers, bobby calves and a handful of dairy/ beef calves. As a result at least one season of calf rearing experience is essential for this role. Outside calving this role involves shifting breaks over winter, being a permanent part of the milking roster, as well as any additional tasks we agree upon. 750 cow farm located near Balfour in Southland is in need of an entry level farm assistant to work alongside the sharemilker and 2 other fulltime staff. We run cow collars and an auto drafting gate. The farm is locate in Geraldine. General duties include but are not limited to milk harvesting and shed hygiene, shifting k-lines, animal welfare specifically being confident in identifying and treating sick cows, weed management picking up calves, tractor driving, including feeding out. Good English and a bit spanish will be and adventage. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be a reliable team member. We run an 7/2- 7/3 roster.
