An exciting and varied position as Assistant Manager on our 900 cow dairy farm has become available. Kopua farm is a 280 ha dairy unit, with a 50 aside HB located half way between Otorohanga and Pirongia. With a well-rostered milk rotation, we utilise a varied system of twice-a-day and once-a-day milking regimes throughout the season. We run a focussed pastured based system with strategic use of supplements. The successful person will have complete support from the farm manager and owners to help them progress. Your role consists of assisting the manager with the day to day running of the farm which includes monitoring and achieving physical/financial KPIs, organising staff tasks/leave, milking, pasture walks, feed allocation, managing/completing capital & farm maintenance projects. An exciting opportunity has arisen to be apart of a forward thinking hard working team who likes to get results but also likes to have balance. Responsibilities include animal health treatments, pasture monitoring, feed management, milking of the cows, record keeping, farm machinery work and maintenance. Ideally I'm looking for someone with excellent shed management skills. Attendance of Primary ITO courses encouraged. You need to be a fast learner who can think on their feet. We peak milk 600 cows through a 40 aside HB. This is a winter milk farm. The farm is tidy with flat contour. Has great infrastructure with in shed feeding(Great cow flow), protrack drafting, Allflex collars, cup removers and a feed pad and a herd home.
