we are looking for someone full time over calving from mid July to End September and then from there solo charge relief milking will be available on every weekend. We are milking 180 cows through 18 aside HB cowshed near Te Poi, Matamata.

Purpose of the position: Assists with daily operational tasks as directed, including feeding, milking, animal health, effluent. Is aware of on-farm compliance, e.g. health, safety, and wellbeing; environment, animal welfare, etc. Duties and Responsibilities: 1.) Carries out milk harvesting tasks as directed and is developing correct skills to milk efficiently and safely. 2.) Understands factors that affect milk quality, and the reasons for regulations around milk quality safety. 3.) Assists with cleaning and maintain the milking plant and farm dairy equipment and reports any faults to senior staff. 4.) Assists with moving and handling animals safely and observes and reports on wellbeing of all stock. 5.) Watching stock for any ill health and reports issues to best person on farm. 6.) The position is full-time drive in, and fixed term (July-January). January onwards, we do have the option to transition into casual work to cover time off etc. You will be working along side myself (sharemilker) and my 2IC. We milk 475 cows through a 36as herringbone. Farm is predominantly pasture based, with supplements fed when needed. The farm is well maintained, free draining, flat, and easy to work on. Perfect for someone who is wanting an easy environment to work and learn in. For this coming season we will be installing collars and drafting gate to make things a bit easier. Milking usually takes 2ish hours, milking times are 5.30am and 2.30pm. From December onwards we change to a 3in2 milking roster(5.30am, 5.30pm, 10am), then change again to OAD in February.
