An awesome opportunity for an Assistant Manager (2IC) for the 2025-26 season, on a well set up 1500 cow farm with ACR, protrack (new this season), in shed feeding system and mainly pivot irrigated farm, has become available.
Part of a large family business, milking a total of 3700cows through 3 dairy sheds and supported by 2 run-off blocks.
Career progression opportunities throughout the rest of the business for the future. The role requires the successful applicant to run the farm to a high standard, supported by the farm Manager and owner.
Job description:
• Work with the Manager and Owner to implement the farm business plan
• Manage staff efficiently and provide training to further their careers and improve farm performance.
• Follow feed strategies, budgets and instructions as appropriate. Grass management- Keen eye for residuals
• Ensure the effective operation of all aspects of the milking shed
• Implement an animal health program to maintain good animal health as well as assist in keeping all animal health records up to date (Identifying mastitis, sick and lame cows. Pick calved cows)
• Maintain farm gear and property to high standards.
Applicants will
• Preferably have 3 or more years of dairy farming experience
• Provide references from at least 2 previous employers
• Be able to pass drug testing
• Hold a valid NZ driver's license, restricted or full
• Be eligible to work in NZ
