Fonterra has extensive dairy and dry stock farms throughout New Zealand supporting the processing sites' needs through the application of wastewater in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. You will need to bring great communication skills to the table to work in with the on-farm irrigation teams daily.
Play a vital role in supporting the Farms Manager to achieve national and global objectives. Our Northland Farms cover approximately 550ha of land – with multiple operations within this. On a 100ha milking platform we milk 280 cows twice a day, the cut and carry platform exports ~2 million kgDM off the farm each year, and the drystock block supports heifer grazing, heifer replacements, and beef grazing as well. With a large variety of work here, and being located 15 minutes north of Whangarei in the gateway of Tutukaka Coast, where else would you rather be.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About the opportunity
We’re looking for an all-rounder to help ensure our farms operate safely and successfully. In this role, you’ll be a relief milker on farm assisting with the day-to-day milking and other jobs where required. This may involve feeding calves, stock work or basic farm maintenance to allow staff time off during calving or annual leave.
Your positive attitude, willingness to learn, and understanding of farming will set you up for success. With on-the-job mentoring, external training, and career progression opportunities, this is a role not to be missed!
Mōu | About you
We are looking for a candidate with basic farm experience that can work independently and safely during milking and basic farming activities. You'll have strong base farming skills, and can support the Farm Manager with the day to day operations and decisions, and step up as required. You’ll passionate about learning, growing, and contributing to innovative farming solutions.
