Machinery Operator

We are  dairy farming business based near Duntroon, with properties spanning from Weston to Duntroon in North Otago. Growth in the business means we’re creating a new Machinery Operator role to take ownership of machinery operations across our farms.

This full-time position is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys getting stuck in, and takes real pride in keeping things running smoothly.

This role is varied and self-directed. You’ll lead and carry out a wide range of machinery and general farm tasks, including:

Cultivation and ground preparation, spraying, fertiliser spreading,  digger operation, drainage work, drilling and regrassing, track maintenance, landscaping, machinery upkeep and welding/fabrication general fencing and feeding out.

We operate modern tractors with GPS and auto-steer, a 10-tonne digger, and a full range of implements. You’ll need to be confident and experienced operating machinery on rolling to steep terrain.

You’ll work closely with us to plan priorities but will be trusted to manage and work with the team independently across the different farms and take responsibility for outcomes.

We’re after someone who:

Has proven experience operating farm machinery on rolling and steep country. Is practical and mechanically minded, with skills in maintenance or welding. Can problem-solve and manage their workload. Works well in a team and communicates clearly. Has a strong work ethic and pride in their work. Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
