Experienced Farm Manager

Are you looking to progress in the dairy industry with an exciting new challenge? Are you a New Zealand resident who is passionate about livestock? We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual or couple to join our team of 4. This position could possibly suit someone with the intentions to enter contract milking within the next year or two.  

We are seeking a high quality and high performing farm manager to complete our team.  You will be replacing the current manager who has been on this farm for 6 years and has made the decision to go contract milking.

• 50 bale rotary with Pro Track, auto teat spray and in shed feeding.
• 415ha with 370ha effective 
• Peak milk 950 cows
• Afimilk cow monitoring collars on all cows 
• 1 centre pivot with green wash irrigation 
• Multiple k lines 
• 11 week mating plan (collars do all the work)
• Rearing 200+ replacement heifers
• Team of 4
• All cows wintered off farm  
• Farm is 70% flat 20% rolling 10% steep 
• Farm is located 6min to Mossburn 8min to Lumsden 30min to Winton.
• School bus comes past the house    

The suitable applicant would need to be confident in and excel at the following roles:

• Animal Husbandry
• Herd Management
• Pasture Management
• Feed Budgeting
• Effluent Application
• Management of up to 4 staff
• Reporting back to the sharemilkers on a weekly basis
• Financial and Budgeting awareness
• Animal recording and mating
• Weed and Pest control
• Shed maintenance, hygiene and shed inspections
• Compliant and understanding of all necessary paperwork
• Tractor driving and all implements involved with farming  

 Applicants with knowledge around centre pivots, cow collars, k lines and large scale farming operations this will work in your favour to fast track an interview.

Excellent three-bedroom house with ensuite in the master bedroom. All three bedrooms open up with double sliding doors onto a spacious deck that over looks the farm. Heated with a log burner and double glazed windows makes for a warm house.

Excellent remuneration package to support this role $90,000 - $113,000 total package
