Job Description

Henli Farming Ltd is on the search for a new farm assistant ready to progress their career in the dairy industry on Tussock Dairy Farm. This is for a junior role with some experience that the applicant is wanting to build on. The role is to assist the team in executing daily activities including but not limited to: milking cows, identifying animal health symptoms, feeding cows and setting up break fencing, carrying out milking plant hygiene practices, assisting in calving and mating.

Accommodation will be provided on farm in a warm, clean and sunny house.

Remuneration is negotiable based on experience and skillset. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 inclusive of accommodation. This is based on 90 to 100 hours per fortnight which vary across the season. The roster is 5 days on, 2 days off.

Successful applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test and have a valid drivers license and be a competent two-wheel motorbike rider. Applicants must have at least 12 months experience in dairy farming and be currently living in New Zealand.

Approximately 20km from Oxford and 70km from Christchurch Airport, the farm location is at the footsteps of the southern alps which is the door way to adventure. Backed up against the foothills of Canterbury over looking the Waimakariri River, the dairy is mostly irrigated with an abundance of trees and character providing a different landscape to the usual Canterbury Dairy Farm

This unit peak milks 1,320 cows through a 60 bale internal rotary. The unit is part of a total operation milking 3,000 cows between two dairy shed and large scale runoffs.

We are a couple in our first year of contract milking and you will be working within a team of 7.

Training on the job will be provided through on farm training and PrimaryITO so if you are looking to enter the dairy industry this could be the role for you or if you have some experience and looking to progress within the industry.

Performance and remuneration reviews are completed annually. 

The farm has an in house cook who provides hot lunches during weekdays!

The roster frequency is currently 5days on 2 days off and milking frequency is twice a day during calving before moving to 3 milkings in two days later in the season.
