Farm Assistant - Gordonton

We require a Farm Assistant for this 800-cow farm on 250 hectares. We run a 50-bale herringbone to manage this large farm. 

Six months experience or a formal relevant qualification required.

Purpose of the position: Assist with the daily operational tasks as directed, including feeding, milking, animal health, effluent.  You need to be aware of on-farm compliance eg health, safety and wellbeing, environment, animal welfare, etc.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, milking cows, cleaning the shed, identifying sick animals and assisting in treating.  You will set up temporary fencing, shifting effluent, feeding stock and general farm tasks. You must be able to ride a two and four-wheeler drive and drive and operate a tractor.

You must be responsible for your actions on this farm its fast paced and working as a team is important, but you need to think for yourself. Getting up turning up on time on your allocated roster is essential lateness and excuses will not work on this size. 

This is an 11 on 3 off 

Salary is $67, 600

Minimum 30 hours guaranteed 

No pets on farm 

No smoking or vaping 

Must have a clean criminal record 

Must pass a drug and alcohol pre-employment check and random drug testing if your employed 

Must have a driver’s license 

You must live on the farm due to the requirements of the job
