The Role

Located just 15km from Mossburn, Windley Lands Ltd is a large-scale farming operation across 1,000 hectares of flat, rolling, and some steeper terrain with some of the most beautiful views in the region and is right on the doorstep to all of the outstanding recreational activities that Fiordland and Southland has to offer.

Windley Lands Ltd is seeking a motivated and reliable Dry Stock Assistant to join our team, and to play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the farm that runs a diverse range of stock and high stock numbers including beef and dairy calves, heifers, bulls and dry cows. You will be working closely with the Farm Manager and 2IC to provide the best environment for our animals to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shifting stock and breakfencing
  • Wintering tasks including winding up and setting fences and tractor work
  • Stock work such as drenching, weighing, loading, and unloading stock in the yards
  • Assist with pasture management and weed control
  • Monitoring, treating, and recording animal health
  • General farm maintenance

About You

This is a hands on, varied role that is well suited to applicants with:

  • A genuine passion for farming as a career of choice
  • A minimum of 2 years of New Zealand farming experience
  • The ability to drive tractors and motorbikes
  • A can-do, solutions focused attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Solid communication skills 
  • A good level of fitness
