Are you passionate about dairy farming and looking for the next step in your career? We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Second-in-Charge (2IC) to join our team on a progressive 400-cow dairy farm located in Feilding, Manawatu.
About the Role
2IC, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the farm, supporting the sharemilker to achieve production, sustainability, and animal health targets. This is a hands-on position that requires strong leadership, excellent animal husbandry skills, and a proactive approach to farming operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with all aspects of herd management, including milking, feeding, and animal health.
• Supervise and support farm staff when required.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• Ensure health and safety practices are upheld.
What We’re Looking For
• At least 2 years of dairy farming experience, with proven skills in animal health and pasture management.
• Applicants must be NZ residents; we are not accredited employers.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to achieving farm goals.
• Leadership and communication skills to motivate and support the team.
• Competency in operating machinery and understanding farm technology.
• A focus on sustainability and care for the environment.

About Us
Our 400-cow operation is focused on producing cost efficient milk while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability and animal wellbeing. The farm has a modern 44-bail rotary shed with automatic cup removers and a feed pad. We are in the rural Manawatu with a 5 min drive to Feilding and 12 minutes to Palmerston North. There is currently no accommodation on farm.
