Milking 920 cows through a 70 bale rotary dairy shed in Culverden, North Canterbury. Dairy has PROTRACK and Cup removers as well as inshed feeding. A variety of tasks are in this role: learning pasture\feed management, setting up breaks, milking cows to a hygienic and healthy level, including somatic cell count, identifying calving cows, calf rearing, working on animal health issues, washing the plant, feeding out, shifting irrigation, ensuring health records are kept up to date, plus other farm tasks that arise from time to time. We aim to work as a team and everyone getting to know all aspects of the farm. While there are a variety of tasks in the role, the primary role of this position is to milk cows.
