Farm assistant

Candy Dairy Ltd We have a 210 ha fully irrigated farm milking 800 cows through a 54 bale Delavel rotary with cup removers and auto drafting. We are a high production farm doing 550 ms per cow. We also run Allflex collars for heat detection and monitoring cow health.  

Our farm is flat, well set out with 2 pivots, fixed grind and a little bit of Kline in the corners.

We are situated 25 mins from Timaru, 5 mins from a small town called Cave. There is a 3 bedroom house. Provided on run off block 2mins down the road.

You will be part of a experienced team of 4 consisting of Farm manger, 2IC and 2 farm assistants. You will contribute in the general day-to day running of the farm operations with Health and Safety in mind and be well supported in developing your skill set and career within the Dairy Industry. The following Skills / Qualifications would be preferred

•  At least 1 year of Farming experience
•  Positive attitude and understanding towards Health and safety.
•  Be comfortable working with stock
•  A general understanding of machinery
• Be eligible to work in NZ as we are not an accredited farm
• Able to ride a 2 and 4 wheeler,  a tractor would be a bonus but not essential
• Set up break fences for cows according to farm plan
• Shed hygiene.
