We are looking for a calf rearer for this coming Spring on our 600 cow dairy farm, 12 minutes south of Martinborough. Experience preferred but not essential.  We typically rear 400 calves through to 100kg, selling approx 150 bull calves at 4-10 days old.  We have a tight calving spread with 70% of the herd calved in August. Therefore, looking for someone starting 1 August to finish mid October. Calves indoors are fed colostrum twice per day, milk is pumped from calfateria to feeders in each pen. Outdoor calves are fed once per day using a combination of fresh milk and powder. The herd is roto-vaxed and there are rigorous on farm policies in place to prevent illness in the calves. This role would be supported by the dairy team and farm owners.
