We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sole Charge Dairy Herd Manager to oversee the daily operations of a 150-cow 64Ha dairy farm in Ballance. This role requires a highly motivated individual who can manage all aspects of herd care, milking, pasture management, and farm maintenance with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities: Milking Operations – Conduct twice-daily milking, ensuring cow health, hygiene, and milk quality. Herd Health & Management – Monitor cow condition, identify and treat health issues. Calving & Reproduction – Manage calving, record keeping, and assist with AI/mating programs. Pasture & Feed Management – Plan and implement grazing rotations, manage supplementary feeding, and maintain pasture quality. Springview is a multi-farm entity with 700 hectares of sheep, beef and cropping that also grazes the dairy farm young stock year-round and mixed age cows over winter. The dairy farm is 150ha effective, calving 450 cows in spring. De Laval 50 bale rotary shed, with in shed feeding, ACRs, auto teat spray, auto drafting etc and a 250 cow covered feed pad. We run 2 herds and a system 4 feeding level. We have a great team culture on farm and have regular social catchups with the whole Springview team. We support staff wanting to progress their knowledge and career both on and off farm We are looking for a motivated 2ic to join the Springview team on the dairy farm, with the ability to take sole charge in the absence of the farm manager. We require experience in the following areas, milking including shed hygiene, tractor driving, animal health and welfare, weed management, break fencing including on crop, and staff management in absence of the farm manager.
